A standard sale has three parts: a $0.20 listing fee per item sold, a 6.5% transaction fee, and a payment processing fee that depends on your country (3% + $0.25 in the US). If the sale came from Offsite Ads, add 12–15%. On a typical US sale without ads, total fees land around 10–11% of the sale.
Yes — and this is the most common mistake in fee math. The 6.5% is charged on item price plus shipping plus gift wrapping, not on the item alone. Offering "free shipping" and burying it in the price does not change the total it is charged on.
If your annual sales are under $10,000 you can opt out, and the rate is 15%. Once you pass $10,000 the programme becomes mandatory, but the rate drops to 12%. Either way the fee only applies to orders that came from those ads, not to every sale.
It is Etsy’s charge in countries with digital services taxes, taken as a percentage of the order total. It runs at 1.67% in Türkiye, 0.48% in the UK and 1.14% in France, and is not charged in the US. Etsy updates these rates from time to time.
The listing fee and the 6.5% transaction fee are the same everywhere. What changes is the payment processing rate, the regulatory operating fee, and — if your listing currency differs from your payout currency — a 2.5% conversion fee. Pick your shop country in the calculator and it is handled.
That is what the second tab does. The logic: every percentage is a share of the sale price, so price = (cost + fixed fees) / (1 − profit% − ad% − Etsy%). Set 25% profit and 10% ads, and Etsy’s cut is added automatically from your country and ad settings; what remains covers your cost.
On the sale. "25% profit" means $25 left from a $100 sale — not cost plus 25%. The distinction moves the price a long way, and since marketplace fees are also a share of the same sale price, using one language keeps the math honest.
The rates here are checked against Etsy’s published fees, and the verification date is printed under the tables. Etsy does change them during the year, so always confirm exact amounts in your own shop dashboard.
